Selling your gold

Make sure you have your ID book or card with you, the banking details and, of course, the item you’d like to sell.
Not at all — TGA’s valuation service is free, and there is no obligation to sell.
Immediately. Once your gold’s value is determined, we’ll make the payment directly into your bank account or give you cash on the spot.
Most gold items are stamped with either 9ct, 14ct, 18ct, 22ct, or 24ct, indicating the caratage. (‘Caratage’ is the measurement of purity of gold alloyed with other metals. For example, 24 carat is pure gold with no additional metals, and lower caratages contain less gold.) TGA experts will look for a stamp and separate items by carat and weight. If the items don’t have a stamp, we’ll do a scan and determine the value on a XRF gun (precious metal X-ray machine) to determine the caratage. The value of your gold is calculated according to the up-to-date market price.

Selling your diamonds

The cut, colour, clarity and carat of a diamond interact with each other and dictate how the diamond appears and how high quality it is. Professionals graded these four characteristics on a consistent scale, providing a standardised tool to evaluate diamonds. Reviewing the 4C’s of a particular diamond can better determine if the diamond is of high quality. ‘Cut’ is perhaps the most essential aspect of a diamond quality that impacts a diamond’s beauty. The cut refers explicitly to the quality of a diamond’s angles, proportions, symmetrical facets, brilliance, fire, scintillation and finishing details. ‘Colour’ refers to how white or colourless a diamond is. The GIA grades diamonds from D to Z, with D being the most colourless and Z containing noticeable brown or yellow tint. ‘Clarity’ tells you how free a diamond is from inclusions and blemishes. Depending on the size, location and darkness of blemishes and inclusions, these imperfections can interfere with light as it passes through the diamond. ‘Carat’ is quite simply the weight of the diamond, and often it gets confused with how large the stone is. For example, a 1-carat diamond equals 200 milligrams. Note that two 1-carat diamonds might be quite different in size, depending on their respective cuts.
The value of a diamond is determined according to its carat, cut, colour and clarity (4 C’s). It is a standardised measure, and most diamonds have a GIA or EGL certificate to indicate the different values. At The Gold Avenue, we stay updated with the latest market-related prices to ensure we give you the best possible deal for your diamond items.
No, it’s not a must (but highly recommended to understand the true value of the diamond). Suppose your diamonds do not have a certificate indicating the cut, colour, clarity and carat. In that case, TGA’s expert team can evaluate the diamond for you.
